Join us for a thrilling adventure that includes rock-climbing in the Matka Canyon or the national park of Galicica, boldering near Prilep, caving in Makedonski Brod, cross-country mtb cycling and hiking in the Shar and Berovo regions, paragliding in Ohrid or the pictoresque town of Krushevo, trekking and hiking combined with off-road jeep safari, lake diving in Ohrid, and much more (if you want to test your limits for adventure). Visits of the historically rich cities of Ohrid, Bitola, Skopje and Prilep give our trip the culture edge, and the hotels and restaurants we use give you chance to taste our splendid Macedonian cuisine.

Tour itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival

Meeting the group at the Skopje Airport. Transfer to the hotel in Skopje. Check in. Leisure time. Full or half day (depending on time of arrival) sightseeing of Skopje. We stop by for lunch in the bazaar. After the lunch we have time for some souvenir shopping in the bazar. Welcome dinner for our guests is organized in the old part of town. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2 – Rock-climbing in the Matka Canyon

After breakfast, we leave the hotel and drive to Matka Canyon. Located just 15 km from Skopje, Matka Canyon, with its limestone rocks and steep cliffs 1000 meters high, is one of the most popular places to climb in Macedonia. The vast canyon, a protected natural reserve, is home to amazing caves, a wide variety of plants and animals and several medieval monasteries. The canyon is also home to more than 70 endemic species of butterfly. The rock is a limestone conglomerate and has a very craggy appearance. In good weather conditions, Matka can be climbed year round. The sport climbing routes are bolt protected. Matka has four popular climbing routes: Sector Otmar Rock, Sector Trio, Sector Matka Hut, and Sector Pier. After our climb, we will have lunch at a restaurant by Lake Matka. After lunch, we head for our next adventure stop, the Shar Planina massif. Accommodation at Popova Shapka. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Cycling in Shar Planina mountain massif (Leshnica)

Popova Shapka lies to the west of Tetovo, on Mount Shara, over 1000 meters above sea level. Today our guests have cycling tour to Leshnica. The 18 mile cycling tour takes us through the valley of Leshnica which has magnificent high peaks, ancient fir and pine forests, the pristine Pena and Leshnica Rivers and waterfalls. The 7-hour tour has an ascent and descent of 685m. Approximately halfway through the cycling tour we will take a break to have a picnic lunch and enjoy the breathtaking scenery during our cycling tour. Because this is an out and back ride, it can be shortened to accommodate less hearty cyclers. If you are more demanding rider, we can provide you with more challenging routes,there is a number of trails with different difficulty in the area. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Popova Shapka.

Day 4 – Hiking in Shar Planina (Mt.Titov Vrv - 2,748m)

After breakfast we leave the hotel for a full day of hiking to Titov Vrv summit. At 2748 meters, it is the highest peak of the massif. Titov Vrv has some very long and demanding routes and offers hikers a real challenge. This 14-mile hike is a straightforward hike interspersed with periods of challenging climbs. From start to finish it will take approximately 8 hours. The highest ascent will bring us 1274m and the descent will be 1243m. Along with the personal reward of conquering such a hiking challenge come the beautiful views over the entire Shar Planina massif. During our hike we will stop for a picnic lunch and enjoy the magnificent views. This is an out and back hike, so it can be shortened to accommodate hikers ability. After our day of hiking we will return to the hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 5 - Horse-back riding in the Mavrovo national park - Galicnik area

Breakfast and early departure for the Mavrovo national park, where we will enjoy full day horse-back riding, the best way to explore this beautiful region. Lunch is provided on site. In the late afternoon hours we continue our journey to the city of Ohrid, called "pearl of the Balkans" due to it's beauty, natural and historical sites. Check-in at hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6 – Kayaking and city tour of Ohrid - UNESCO heritage site from Macedonia

Breakfast, followed by half-day kayaking tour by the lake shores. While kayaking, our guests can enjoy the magnificent view of Ohrid from the lake and check-out for themselves the visibility and purity of the lake (striking 22 meters), one of the features which gave the lake is under UNESCO protected status. After kayaking, we have lunch, and proceed to city tour of Ohrid (Macedonia’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site). We will cover the most famous Ohrid amenities: the Church of St. Sofia, the Plaoshnik archaeological site, Tzar Samuel’s fortress, the Ancient Theater, church of St. Jovan Kaneo and the amphitheater. Return to hotel in the evening hours. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7 - Ohrid - lake diving or jeep safari day

If you are interested in trying out lake diving, then you can go for our diving tour in Ohrid. You will have unique opportunity to see the original remains of paleolithic settlement on the banks of the lake, escorted by internationally licensed diving instructor, with high-quality diving equipment. You can also take pics underwater, or let our guides take pics of you while diving. After arrival at the diving center, you will have 30 minute tutorial by our diving instructors, followed by enjoying a unique diving experience in the lake with escort from instructor.
For our guests who are not so keen on diving, we can offer full day jeep safari in the vicinity of Ohrid. We will start our day in the village of Kuratica. Guests will have the opportunity to experience the unknown side of Macedonia - it's unspoiled rural landscapes and genuine hospitality of the locals in the remote villages we visit. There is also possibility for hiking certain sections of the safari trails. Return to point of departure in the late afternoon hours.
Lunch is included in both options. Return to hotel in the afternoon hours (diving option), and enjoying free time in Ohrid, or the early evening hours. Dinner and overnight.

Days 8 and 9 – Tandem paragliding in the Galicica National Park and caving in Makedonski Brod

Breakfast and departure to the starting point for tandem paragliding on a mountain near Lake Ohrid, part of the National Park of Galicica. You cannot describe the feeling when flying above the take off place and enjoying the view – Lake Ohrid on one side of the mountain and Lake Prespa on the other. Lunch is provided on site, in a local restaurant. Return at hotel in the afternoon hours.
If the weather conditions are not favorable for tandem paragliding, we will go for a caving tour in the area of Makedonski Brod, and go for paragliding the next day. The caving can be done in easy or more extreme manner. The easy option takes to a 400m horisontal caving, and the more challenging option includes vertical caving as well. Lunch is provided on site, in the caving exploration center. Transfer back to our hotel in Ohrid. Dinner and overnight.

Day 10 – Bitola - ancient city on Via Egnatia and bouldering in Prilep

Breakfast and check out from the hotel. Departure to Bitola. City tour of Bitola, including the ancient city of Heraclea Lyncestis (founded by Philip II of Macedonia, Alexander’s father), the museum of Pelagonia, the old part of Bitola (Shirok Sokak street). Lunch in Bitola. Afternoon transfer to Prilep, city famous for being the seat of the last medieval rulers of Macedonia before the Ottoman invaders seized the whole area. Nearby Prilep there is very attractive bouldering site, so we can provide unique experience to the guests interested in this increasingly popular sport. The guests that choose to pass the bouldering can enjoy free time in the city of Prilep. Departure for the Pelister National Park in the early evening hours. Accommodation at hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 11 – Walking in the Pelister National Park or paragliding in Krushevo

This day is reserved for walking, where we will take you to the Jorgov Kamen and Crveni Steni areas. Lunch with traditional dishes from the region. Walking back to the hotel. Leisure time. Dinner and overnight.
Note: In case the weather conditions were not favorable for paragliding back in Ohrid, we will provide alternative paragliding option in the nearby town of Krushevo, famous for it's location and potential for paragliding sports.

Day 12 – Trekking on Baba mountain (Mt.Pelister - 2,601m)

Breakfast. Trekking tour to the summit through the stone ridge (harder version) or through the Molika Forest (easier version). After 6 hours of trekking arrival at the summit. One hour break for lunch. On the way to Nizepole we will visit the glacial lakes “Pelisterski oci”. Arrival at Nize pole and transfer back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 13 – Prespa - boat trip to "Golem Grad" - the only Macedonian island

Breakfast and check out from the hotel. Transfer to the village of Stenje. Boat ride to the island of “Golem Grad”. We have 2 hours for sightseeing of the ancient ruins and lunch on site. After the boat trip we head for the region of Berovo, the last stop of our adventure journey. We will also take our guests for wine tasting in the region of Demir Kapija, which is en-route. Wine making in Macedonia dates back from Roman times, and visiting our country without trying the premium wines made from indigenous Macedonian grape varieties is a huge mistake. Arrival in Berovo in the early evening hours. Dinner and overnight.

Day 14 – Berovo - trekking, cycling, kayaking or jeep safari day

Breakfast. Guests can choose to hike, bike or kayak in the beautiful area of the Maleshevo mountains. Jeep safari that includes visit of traditional sheepfold in the area is also an option. Lunch is included in every activity. Return to hotel in the early evening hours.
