Tour itinerary

Day 1: Skopje

Arrival in Skopje. Transfer to your hotel. A short break. A half-day sightseeing tour of Skopje with a professional local guide – a visit to the old railway station; the statue of Mother Teresa; the Stone Bridge; The church of St. Spas (Holy Salvation); the Fortress Kale. The tour ends in a walk through the Old Skopje Bazaar. Free afternoon. Dinner with typical dishes of the Skopje area is served in restaurant with traditional setting. Overnight stay in Skopje.

Day 2: Skopje surroundings

Full-day tour – a visit to Lake Matka, which is the most popular getaway retreat of most citizens of Skopje. Apart from the lake, we also visit the Monastery Church of St. Andrew in Matka, built in the 14th century. After Matka, we head for the nearby mountain of Vodno and the Monastery Church of St Pantelejmon in the village of Gorno Nerezi, which was built in the 12th century and represents an important monument from the Byzantine period. At day’s end, we pay visit to Marko’s monastery. Return to Skopje. Overnight.

Day 3: Mavrovo national park

A departure for Mavrovo National Park. Visit of villages unique for it’s cultural and historical heritage and way of life, such as Galicnik, Lazaropole and Selce. Accommodation at the hotel in the afternoon hours. The Mavrovo area is known for it's tasty dairy products, so guests will be able to do white and yellow cheese tasting over dinner. Overnight in the Mavrovo area.

Day 4: Ohrid – UNESCO heritage site

Departure for Ohrid. We follow the road along the River Radika with its magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. It leads us to the mystical and tranquil Monastery of St. Jovan Bigorski (St John the Baptist), which was built in the 19th century. In the monastery church you can see an icon of St John the Baptist dating from the 11th century as well as the final and most stunning, one of only three iconostases carved out of walnut. Afterwards, what follows is a short break in the village of Vevchani, where we visit the famous Vevchani springs. We resume our journey to Ohrid. Arrival and accommodation in the hotel. Free afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Ohrid – UNESCO heritage site

A half-day city tour of Ohrid. The tour starts in front of the statue of Ss. Cyril and Methodius, and it continues to the Lower gate, the Church of St Sophia, the Roman amphitheatre, the Upper gate, St Clements’s Church of the Holy Mother of God Most Glorious, Tsar Samoil’s fortress, Plaoshnik, and it ends in a walk through Ohrid’s marketplace. Lunch and dinner are served in restaurants that serve traditional Macedonian food.

Day 6: Monastery of St.Naum

Full day tour (by bus or boat from Ohrid) to the beautiful Monastery of St Naum with new inns built in the last decade. Boat ride in the springs of the River Crn Drim is also included. Free time to enjoy the area. Return to Ohrid in the evening hours. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Bitola

After breakfast, we head for the city of Bitola. A visit to the city of Bitola, and the ancient town of Heraclea Lyncestis (founded by Philip II, father of Alexander the Great). The clients also enjoy lunch and free time to feel the atmosphere of Shirok Sokak, Bitola’s most popular high-street. Return to Skopje in the evening hours. Dinner and overnight.

Day 8:

Transfer to the Skopje airport.
